Rover 100 Hatchback 1.4 SLi 3d (1995/N) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Good value when bought 2 years old, hasn't depreciated that much further.
Costs
Small niggly costant things, but generally could be a lot worse.
-
On the road
Driving
Quite smooth drive. No power steering, though.
Performance
Fantastic for a 'Metro'. 1.4 is worth its weight.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Had problem with sticking brake pads after hottest day of year last year, which took several diagnosis and weeks to finally solve. Never normally lets me down, even in the coldest mornings.
Image
Metro image is outdated and the big boys don't think I'll keep up with them in the fast lane, but other than that eat my dust.
Comfort
Generally very comfortable.

Security and Service
Security
Never been tested thankfully, but all seems quite good with alarm and immobiliser as standard.
Service
Never deal with franchised garages they are overpriced and usually have miserable staff.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
No problems - replaced battery once in 7 years.
Other
Gas suspension deflates every month or so - £20 a time to pump back up. Handbrake light stays on when handbrake is released - cheap but complicated problem that I haven't bothered to fix.
