Rover 200 Cabriolet 1.6 2d (1996/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Good so far. Wish I'd bought the SE model with leather and power hood - not much more money if you can find a good one.
Costs
Ok if main dealers avoided. Fuel economy good.

Driving
A good all-rounder. Good driving position, body hugging seats and feels more sporty than it is.
Performance
Feels a bit sluggish with four adults in.

Living with it
Reliability
Never let me down. Flies through MOTs, although front tyres wear out rather quickly - could be my driving style?
Image
Not a bad image. Looks good with hood down - a head turner, but a lot of older drivers let image down.
Comfort
Good seats, but a lot of wind noise where hood meets door windows. Feels cramped in the back with hood up. Ok, though, when hood down.

Security and Service
Security
My dog locked me out of car. Broke in through back of driver's window (where seal is) with coathanger in about 30secs, no damage! Nuff said.
Service
Rover dealers notoriously expensive (plus they always find "something else wrong that needs replacing". Be tempted not to beleive them and get a second opinion, find a good back street garage and a local parts company - easy to work on yourself.
