Rover 200 Cabriolet 214 2d (1996/N) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Good value to be able to transport four in the sun.
Costs
Insurance is fairly high but the engine's economical.
-
On the road
Driving
Holds the road well and is fun, but body rolls and there's scuttle shake.
Performance
Surprisingly nippy, the engine's a joy to rev.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Replaced head gasket, gearbox and others - this car had been thrashed and unloved. Had to spend some on getting it fit!
Image
More class than an Escort/Astra/Golf but still hints of hairdresser and old man, if that's possible!
Comfort
Supportive seats (with lumbar adjustment), went to Italy and back without much pain. Electric roof useful.

Security and Service
Security
Alarm & immobiliser. But put valuables in the boot, not on show under a soft top.
Service
Derby Luffield Rover were fine.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Needed head gasket, HT leads & coil.
Other
