Rover 200 Coupe 1.6 2d (1997/P) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
£2000 now for a good condition later model cant be argued with.
Costs
Fuel isnt too bad £30 = 240 (fast) miles! But watch out if things go wrong
-
On the road
Driving
Handles beautifully can really throw it around the bends, motorway cruising is effortless, enjoyable and it really eats the mileage up.
Performance
For a 1.6 this thing suprises, expect to beat most other cars off the line with quick gear changing, have beaten celicas in it
-
Living with it
Reliability
Never broke fully down and left me stranded, was always able to limp home or to the garage
Image
Polished up with a shine its a beautiful looking car IMHO, i almost wish i still had it.
Comfort
Rough ride due to the hard suspension but seats are firm and hold you in round the tight bends
-
Security and Service
Security
Had to put CAT 1 A&I in just to be insured so no problems here
Service
Bought second hand so no dealing with manufacturer directly
-

Problems
Engine
Headgasket 6 months in = £700 , few other little bits and bobs, nothing major but then radiator, thermostat and headgasket went again at 70,000 odd miles, cracked engine block requiring new engine
Other
If this car didnt have the head gasket problems I would still have it now.
