Rover 200 Coupe 1.8 VVC 2d (1998/R) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Depreciates quite quickly, so a very good used bargain.
Costs
Overheating due to common head gasket failure can be fairly expensive. Everything else good. Do NOT buy from Rover, parts are way too much!

On the road
Driving
Handling and general roadholding good for what it is but no BMW M3.
Performance
Great acceleration and fast comprehensively for 1.8, but lacks a little torque under 4000rpm.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Ensure head gasket is monitored as it is a prominent failing on all k-series engines.
Image
Best thing about the car. Looks smooth, slick for a cheap coupe. Better looking than a lot of new coupes in the same or more expensive price range.
Comfort
Radio badly postioned, nightmare for tall people in the rear, very stiff suspension.

Security and Service
Security
Alarm and immobiliser standard, but I recommend a CAT1 for peace of mind.
