Rover 200 Coupe 1.8 VVC 2d (1997/P) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Great bargains to be had now that the price has depreciated but do be aware of potential expenses with the engine
Costs
Unfortunately I've just experienced my 2nd head gasket failure within 12 months. This is a problem with the K series engine so do be aware. 1st change was with a Rover approved part (and still failed!) however independent steel dowel version is better.

On the road
Driving
Good driving position, clear visibility
Performance
Excellent at around 3,500-4000 revs - very drivable.

Living with it
Reliability
Due to the 2 HGFs (see above) I can't rate this highly. Have also experienced problems with electric window (might be just my car) and coolant/ brake fluid leaks
Image
No problem here - people still aren't sure what it is and have generally received positive comments. Just wish I had a more reliable example as I do like the car.
Comfort
Stiff suspension so get used to a rocky ride over those speed bumps. Solid on the motorway.

Security and Service
Security
Factory standard but a little 'too' good - have to turn it off if I don't want to put the T-bar roof back on while parked!
Service
Never used them
