Rover 200 Coupe 1.8 VVC 2d (2003/52) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Good used deal off eBay.
Costs
Insurance is high (15), but you get 38mpg. VVC engine is expensive for big services (60k / head gasket).
-
On the road
Driving
Sporty drive (stiff springs, low ride). Not a very agile chassis.
Performance
Very satisfying, not just good looks (like the 1.6).
-
Living with it
Reliability
Only had it 2 weeks (but it needed a new head gasket upon delivery at 78k miles).
Image
Full cream leather. Purple/blue flip paint, excellent coupe shape - great to be seen in.
Comfort
Stiff springs means bumpy inner-city ride - roof panels squeak on every turn, but I don't mind. Would like aircon, though.

Security and Service
Security
Immobiliser should stop it going anywhere - good enough.
Service
Found a cheaper-than-most dealer. Got lots done at same time, so saved some dosh.
