Rover 200 Coupe 220 2d (1993/L) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
One of the best value for money used cars available.
Costs
Later 1.8 litre models overpriced.

On the road
Driving
Overall, excellent road handling, too much body roll in fast corners, even non turbo 2.0 litre can wheel spin in the wet.
Performance
Good power and acceleration, short gear ratios do little to help economy though.

Living with it
Reliability
Generally good, but you need to have Rover parts fitted. I went through three catalytic converters in the winter in two months from Kwik-Fit.
Image
I think this car is still stunning. It's a shame Rover stopped building it. I have a 93/L reg version and I still have people looking at it in car parks.
Comfort
Driver's position is perfect. Seat has height adjustment and so does the steering wheel. Back seats lack head room, but hey, it's a coupe, what did you expect?

Security and Service
Security
Alarm and immobiliser available. Must be good because insurance is very cheap for a group 15 car.
Service
Charged £230 in total for geometric check twice in two weeks, yet local Rover dealer failed to locate and fix tracking fault.

Problems
Engine
On very cold mornings the engine can sound ropey.
Other
If you encounter speed bumps on a regular basis your tracking will need constant checking.
