Rover 200 Coupe 220 Turbo 2d (1993/K) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
A lot of car for the money, but depreciation is reduced during the summer due to the targa top.
Costs
Very expensive experiences in my short period of ownership and the previous owner's too - more down to the age of the car. Speed sensors are a rip-off, as are power steering pipes.

On the road
Driving
Very responsible and sure-footed. Sports suspension upgrades help increase positive feel. Brakes are not great!
Performance
It has the 'grin-factor' that makes the £400 garage bill worthwhile. No lag from the turbo, which makes it very capable of overtaking. More bhp per tonne than a Scooby and apart from the new RS Focus, one of the most powerful front wheel cars ever made.

Living with it
Reliability
Turbo needs treating with care. Age of parts will mean that they will fail and require replacing. Gearbox identified as a weak point. Engines are not over stressed but uprate head gasket - essential.
Image
Still looks the business and looks the business when tastefully customised.
Comfort
Great driving position, seats comfortable and supportive and good visibility.

Security and Service
Security
A Thatcham Cat 1 alarm would be advisable due to the desirability of this car and the standard equipment is not that great.
Service
Wrights of Sleaford - excellent all round service.
