Rover 200 Coupe 220 Turbo 2d (1995/M) Owner Review

Economy
Value
There is nothing like this car for the money - £2000-£4000.
Costs
Insurance high and heavy on the juice if you turn the boost up. Good on motorway and average around town with boost on standard.

On the road
Driving
Some people slate the rear end for stepping out, but I find it just twitches but never goes all the way. Hard to handle at first, but great fun once you've got to grips with it.
Performance
240hp is easy with 12psi. A lot of people don't realise these are 6 second cars and top out at 150mph. Car feels pretty stable when at top end, but a bit noisy through the roof.

Reliability
No real problems, but if you turn the boost up too high, mems system (ECU) doesn't let you and takes a couple of minutes to readjust, so keep it at 13psi or lower or chip it.
Image
Doors look pretty cool, cos they're just half way and pretty long roof comes out and looks nice. Pretty sleak looking for mid-90s car.
Comfort
Bit harsh when you hammer it but apart from that, very comfy leather recaro-shaped seats keep you in place when going round the corners a bit quick.

Security and Service
Security
Just a standard Rover alarm on mine, but you can get a Cat 1 alarm fitted for around £200. I cant see any easy acces points on the car, but no one has tried to nick it yet.
Service
Dealer parts are expensive, but cheaper just as good quality parts are accesible as it has a lot in common with the hatchback 200. Not worth keeping dealer service history up in my opinion.
