Rover 200 Hatchback 1989-
  • Economy

    Value

    1 out of 5 1.0

Depends how you drive it. This car has cost me over a grand in 9 months. Moral is: good buy for retired couples who drive everywhere at 30. Bad buy for boy racers.

    Costs

Everything that can go wrong will do, unless you're over 50.

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

Handles well. Poor brakes. High revs and wheels loose grip too easily on take-off. Capable of keeping up with TDi Passat and 1.8L Golfs all in all not bad for a 1400cc engine with some weight on it.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not bad, but to get the most out of it you have to work it hard. Corners well and pert handbrake all in all sits on lines at speed.

    Reliability

    1 out of 5 1.0

Drive it like an old man and you're laughing, however driving it like an 18 year old I've had brakes, clutch, gearbox and snaped cambelt causing replacement of all 16 valves. Moral is if you're like me, don't buy one.

Polish weekly otherwise, for my age group, can be slightly embarrasing on the outside but impressive on the inside.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Comfortable seats and driving position cramped in rear for adults. Loses everything as soon as you hit a bumpy road.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Engine deadlocks and alarm. Good security for age and price.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

    Expensive.
