Rover 200 Hatchback 1989-
  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Average price. Not to many extras for this SE plate. Newer SE models have better spec.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Cheap running costs, cheap tax and insurance not too bad either.

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

Handels well, but too much bodyroll. Leaves passengers feeling ill when driving down narrow country lanes.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

I would never tell that I'm driving a 1.4. It has the Rover 'K' series engine, which seems to have plenty of punch for its size. It pulls well, so there is no need to be changing down every time you approch hills.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

Only had minor work carried out so far, which I would expect to have done on a car 10 years old.

It's no worse than many other cars of its time. It does look a bit old now.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

I'm a 6' 5" driver that has no problems at all behind the wheel and my partner is 5' 3" and she finds it just as comfortable to drive. There seems to be plenty of room in the back, even when I'm driving.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

    It has an alarm.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

I haven't been to a Rover dealership for work to be carried out.
