Rover 200 Hatchback 1989-
  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Decent spec for year. Prices have seriously tumbled recently.

    Costs

    1 out of 5 1.0

It's a dog! Have replaced ECU and alternator in last 2 months. Each MOT throws up a new problem and costs in the hundreds.

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

    It's ok to drive.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

    Decent performance from 1.4.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    1 out of 5 1.0

Have suffered 5 breakdowns in 3 years, despite regular servicing. Irritating niggles with electrics.

    Image

    3 out of 5 3.0

Alloys give it a lift, but let's face it, it's a grandaddy Rover!

    Comfort

    2 out of 5 2.0

Alloys make the ride a little crashy and harsh. Seats firm and supportive, although partner complains that they're too firm. Very loud at motorway speeds (engine and wind noise) means long journeys can be tiresome.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Alarm/immobiliser helps, as does the fact that it's a grandaddy Rover.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Really not worth bothering with main dealers at this price.
