Rover 200 Hatchback 1989-

Bought 4 years ago from garage for £2000. Worth nowt now, but done lots of happy miles in it so mustn't grumble!

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Parts seem a bit pricey. Petrol - about 180 miles on £15, seems good?

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Nice driver's car. Handles well except on bumpy surfaces, where it's a bit harsh.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

For a 1.4 engine hauling a largeish body (me and the car!) it goes well. Cruises all day at 90 and good acceleration, too.

    Reliability

    3 out of 5 3.0

Never let me down, but there are always little faults with it which costs money and time, again, even though serviced regularly.

Early 90s design and it's an old man's car, but I've got to the point where I don't care!

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Spacious and well specified. One of the few cars I've found that you can do 100s of miles in and still feel comfortable at the end of the day.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

If somebody wants to break in they can do. Driver's side window was smashed on mine. Replaced it the day after for £10 from the breakers - great.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Would never buy a car new enough to need dealer servicing.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

No serious failures, but niggly problems. ECU is playing up at the moment.
