Quite a lot of kit for the money.

Expensive servicing. Parts are reasonable, you just have to buy loads of them.

Excellent handling, sporty suspension and reasonable cornering.
Performance
110bhp. Used in some car rallies. Excellent performance, 0-60 in 10 seconds. Rover 1.4 16v engine is more powerful than all rivals.

Ok on the whole. Cambelt needs doing all the time.
