Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£6,000
When did you buy the car?
January 1999
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes I did. I paid £6000 for a 2 litre Rover with leather, air conditioning and full electric pack, with only delivery miles.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
My 1993 Rover 220 GTi was a late registration car with only 30 miles on the clock when I bought it from my local Rover dealer in 1999. It was sold as an out-of-production model, therefore saving me over £10k on the list price.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
It's still a great car to drive, despite being over twenty years old. We often go out for a drive in it purely for the pleasure of it. It is roomy, comfortable and powerful. Owing to the factory sports suspension, it handles lovely too.
What's it like to park?
Very easy, good visibility all round and good tight turning circle.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Clutch failed at 70,000 miles. Fuel pump seized at about 100,000 miles. Rear brake calipers seized and the car had it's first MOT failure in twelve years. Other than that, she has truly never missed a beat. Currently showing 115,621 miles and still running great.
What's most practical about your car?
I had the car converted to run on both petrol and LPG in 2000. It runs smoothly and very economically.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Kenwood CD multichanger. (Very 1990s, I know! ).
