  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

I bought this car for £6,000 at just over 2 years old with 17,000 miles on the clock. Its current value is over £4,000 - that can't be bad.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

A major service costs about £150, hardly expensive. Standard 185/55 tyres are expensive, but rims will accept 195/50's which are cheaper.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Feels like a shopping car below 3,000rpm, but at higher revs it's like race car.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

0-60mph in under 8 secs and on to 130mph. Compare that with any other non-turbo 1800cc motor. Drive it as hard as you like and you can't achieve less than 30mpg.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

In 2 years, this car has never failed to start or broken down.

    Image

    3 out of 5 3.0

Looks like any other Rover 200. Company car drivers and boy racers seem astonished as they fade away in the rear view mirror, great fun! Of course, this also keeps the thieves at bay too.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

Fine around town and at legal motorway speeds, but short wheel base means it gets a bit nervy at high speeds.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    4 out of 5 4.0

Volumetric and parametric alarm plus immobliser as standard.

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

    Always helpful and polite.
