    Uncomfortable and unreliable. Nuff said.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Relatively cheap, for good reason. No wonder Rover are going down the pan. Save up that bit extra and buy a Golf.

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

Average. Don't like the spongy clutch, though, which seems to be a Rover trait.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Not bad for a 1.4, but engine has no torque.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    1 out of 5 1.0

Very poor. Failed headgasket and poruos cylinder head are the main culprits.

Not too bad... for a Rover.

    Comfort

    1 out of 5 1.0

Cramped rear, unsupportive seats and no headroom. No room in the foorwell for your left foot. Poor ergonomics. Truly awful.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Remote controlled alarm and immobiliser. Not too sure about those rear windows on the 3 door though...

    Service

    2 out of 5 2.0

Expensive main dealer wanted £90 to fit a new wheel cylinder. Did it myself in 30 minutes for £15.
