Economy
Value
Quality, but expensive for size; brochure promised central locking but didn't come with the car - no compromise with Rover.
Costs
Good econonmy; lowish insurance.
-
On the road
Driving
Good until you brake on a hill or going round a bend. Needs ABS.
Performance
Unbelivable straight line punch, yet 45mpg+ always.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Poor paint, brakes, door seals and tyre wear.
Image
Looks great in 3-door form, even today.
Comfort
Could do with better wheel adjustment. Fine on long journeys.
-
Security and Service
Security
Alarm and immobiliser - not bad. It feels solid.
Service
Very poor service from 3 Rover dealers. 3 dealers wouldn't believe that the doors whistled. They eventually fitted some small plastic retainers.
