Economy
Value
Cheap to buy, but still loses it's value worryingly quickly.
Costs
Low insurance and good economy (50 mpg), but has got through rather a lot of parts.

On the road
Driving
Grips surprisingly well, but suspension is a little too soft to be genuinely sporty. Dead steering lets it down. Slick 'box, but heavy clutch.
Performance
Surprisingly quick. Will see off many newer cars away from the lights. Turbo lag can be annoying at times though.

Living with it
Reliability
Engine could go on for ever, though clutch seems to be a weakness. Quite a few minor niggles. Unhelpful attitude from Rover dealer.
Image
Still looks nice, slightly sporty but needs bigger wheels. Much younger than 400 or 600.
Comfort
Comfortable seats but heavy clutch. Engine vibrates too much at idle. Good motorway cruiser.

Security and Service
Security
Perimetric alarm but no interior protection. Very average.
Service
Attitude from local dealer leaves a lot to be desired. Best go to an independent and buy parts elsewhere.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine

Other
Rear wheel brake cylinders fail. Worn/juddering clutch.
