Value
Bought mine just after Rover went bust, cost me a fraction of the list price.
Costs
Servicing cheap, parts too but hard to find. Insurance OK, although mpg can be low if driven hard.

Driving
For what it is, a very nice drive - communicative steering. Gearbox and brakes could be better.
Performance
Considering it is only a 1.4, very good if revved hard, although needs more torque, especially on motorways.
