Rover 25 (1999 - 2005) 1.4 iL (84ps) 5d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Owned the car for 8 years & was used often. I used the car for family shopping trips, holidays in Wales, day trips here & there & travelling some distances too for my icehockey games. I used my car for transporting a moped, large TV, plus took all the bushes from the garden to the tip. The car is easy to work on as a novice & wear & tear held up pretty well with replacing the exhaust from getting the car to just recently. Decent tires bought cheaply off ebay (brand new). Parts are cheaper from Eurocarparts. One big thing to note is the SRS light, if this comes on don't try bypassing it as seen on YouTube it's quite simply a new airbag squib needed which I found out myself after local garage didn't know without wanting to charge labour cost just to look. Bad points apart from the Headgasket issue is the sunroof as these can deteriorate causing leaks so make sure that's done properly saving you having to replace the roof lining. Loved my little Rover, nippy spacious & all round a really good car plus it's cheap on insurance & running cost with spares old & new readily available. Look after them & they will run & run just keep an eye on the Headgasket because if it's going get it done properly otherwise you'll be doing it again later.
How reliable do you find the car?
K series engine have a common Headgasket failure. 40000+ miles usually goes at, mine was around 43000.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Being a hatchback it looks small but is really spacious inside & with the back seats down & parcel shelf removed plenty or room for bigger or bulky items.About their car
