Rover 400 Saloon 416 Si 4d (1996/P) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Good, especially the saloon; PAS, elec windows and mirrors. Good second-hand buy.
Costs
Fuel is average for class. Insurance is very steep - get a quote before buying.

On the road
Driving
Excellent on long journeys. Nippy around town. Bit of bodyroll if pushed hard.
Performance
Acceleration is very good thoughout the rev range; very repsonsive. 0-60 time very close to 2.0-litre.

Living with it
Reliability
No problems so far.
Image
Saloon is one of the best looking. Better than the hatchback. Far higher image than an Escort or Astra of same age.
Comfort
Front seats are excellent. Back is cramped slightly by the sunroof.
-
Security and Service
Security
Immobiliser and alarm standard. No problems.
Service
Not gone to Rover dealer - far too pricey. Try specialists.
