Rover 400 Saloon 420 GSi 4d (1997/P) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Bargains to be had here. Paid under £1800 for mine in very good condition with leather, air con, cruise and all electrics, 58k miles on clock and 1 owner!
Costs
Very good economy on fuel. Insurance is a bit high.

On the road
Driving
Precise steering. Good firm ride. Grip level could be better in wet, but overall quite good.
Performance
Pleasantly surprised. Engine is lively and gives good performance.

Living with it
Reliability
No trouble whatsoever so far. All I have had to replace are the wiper blades.
Image
I think the car looks okay. Other people might see it as an older person's car.
Comfort
Seats are comfy but supportive. Good on long journeys, too.

Security and Service
Security
Basic alarm. Locks seem sturdy enough.
Service
Parts and servicing expensive from Rover dealers.
