Rover 400 Saloon 420 SLDi 4d (1998/R) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Quite hard to get hold of, but good value as replaced by the updated 45 series.
Costs
Service reasonable and running costs 45/50mpg - NB I drive very 'uneconmically' as you might say too.
-
On the road
Driving
Comfortable, quite sporty for a diesel, especially if you fit 50 profile tyres.
Performance
Lively for a diesel always does what I want when I want.
-
Living with it
Reliability
3 Occassions - Only hiccups - two glow plug relays (£7 each) and a set of glowplugs £15 -not bad in 6yrs !!
Image
Understated - good value - reliable, nippy yet economical.
Comfort
A good balance of comfort & handling - I still prefer 50 profile tyres rather than the standard 65's.

Security and Service

Alarm, immobiliser, great.
Service
Excellent. Gordon lambs in sheffield - say what they will do & do what they say. Chris Schwarts great sales exec.
