Rover 400 Saloon 420 SLi 4d (1997/P) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Bought as a cheap ex-fleet car at 95,000 miles. Proved to be a decent choice.
Costs
Fuel consumption a bit high if pushing it on. Outside Rover dealer parts are fairly reasonable.

On the road
Driving
Not exactly a driver's car, but fantastic on long motorway journeys - cruising is effortless.
Performance
Doesn't feel fast but is. Good and gutsy for overtaking.
-
Living with it
Reliability
A few niggles with the alarm. Other than that, nothing major.
Image
Ok. I am 26 and it doesn't really do the image much good, but after friends driving the car they soon change their mind.
Comfort
Good on motorway, but unsettled on rough A and B-roads.

Security and Service
Security
No problems.

Engine
Original starter failed at 100,000 miles - not bad due to stop start journeys.

Trim seems to suffer through mileage.
