Driving it
What's it like to drive?
This is where the 45 excels, good body control, grip and power. There is a good compromise of ride and handling that makes it an exceptional all rounder. Unlike other rivals of its time Rover has made an effort to fit a good quality interior with plenty of kit for the money. Yes, the interior looks dated but is still functional and works. This contributes in a better driving experience for me personally as im all for interior comfort and design. The diesel engine needs very little work to get to cruising speeds. The engine may appear noisy at idle but quietens as you get on the move. Where Rover engineers have shone is the amount of torque they have managed to pull out of the 113 horsepower engine, an incredible 280nm which is great for overtaking on the motorway or country lanes.
What's it like to park?
Turning circle isn't as good as my previous 400 petrol. Parking sensors are a great touch and good steering helps to manoeuvre into parking bays.
