Rover 600 620 ti 4d (1996/P) Owner Review

Economy
Value
It cost me a couple of grand - few cars at this price match the performance or kit levels. Insurance surprisingly low for someone my age.
Costs
Rover dealers expensive, parts reasonable (I suppose) considering how powerful the car is. In terms of petrol, it's damn near alcoholic-single biggest cost.

On the road
Driving
Very quick and smooth on motorways and A-roads, but around town it can be wearing due to annoying clutch judder. Gearbox rough when cold but fine once warmed up.
Performance
In a straight line, it's fine. Corners ok, but it's not a B-road rocket. The best thing is it looks like a grandad car, a real wolf in sheep's clothing.

Living with it
Reliability
It was high miles when I bought it and a new clutch was fitted at 108,000. Various engine pipes started going at the same time, but nothing unexpected. Never misfired or had trouble starting. Oil is ok too.
Image
Rover's image is poor, but the car looks the part in that grandad way. A very sleek looking motor in Ti form.
Comfort
No complaints. Seats very supportive, dash well laid out. Big boot, but not very high.

Security and Service
Security
Seems ok - no-one's tried to steal it, so I don't know how difficult it would be to do so. Alarm works though.
Service
Rover dealers seem fine - overpriced, but better than some non-franchised garages I've been to and generally quite friendly.
