Economy
Value
Not a lot can beat it value for money wise as an overall package.
Costs
Good on fuel on a run, thirsty round town, parts OK, I service it myself.

On the road
Driving
Nice driving position, strong shell gives good ride. Everything you would want, incl A/C and a leccy sunroof
Performance
Excellent engine with very strong midrange and good driveability, handling could be better round town but on a run, fantastic.

Reliability
Excellent. I have had this car from 50K and it is now up to 90K. I have serviced it myself and I drive it VERY hard most of the time. . Late ones (after 97 with coloured door handles) like mine had almost all ""issues"" ironed out.
Image
OK, you will get people who do not know any better giving you a bit of stick, show them what it can do/has and what you paid to shut em up!!! These cars are VERY UNDER-RATED
Comfort
As I said, nice to do long distances in and surprisingly economical over them with little use of high boost

Security and Service
Security
It's a Rover, so does not attract massive attention. Standard alarm and immobiliser must help a little.
Service
I have a mate at a main agent who I use for parts, he is excellent.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Thermostats on ones with A/C can stick open leading to temp guage rising and falling a little and higher fuel cons. Cam carrier seals can leak but once replaced are fine. Very strong and cheap to run mechanically, but watch for thrashed/""modded"" ones!
Other
People mod them by simply cranking up max boost upwards of the standard 10 psi. Can crack/melt pistons as turbo is too small and inlet temps become too high!
