I bought it for £400 pounds 20 months ago. Good price then, but new MG saloons have increased depreation. A lot of car for the money.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Insurance is high (I'm 19 now and got the car when I was 17). Uses a lot of petrol when pushed. Overall, not too bad.

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Nice motorway car. Likes being thrown round bends on Yorkshire's roads. Can be unsteady if pushed too far. Good brakes. 70 - 0 mph in about 60 mtetres.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

0-60mph in ten seconds is very fast for a 17 year old. Beats Novas and Corsas - much to their baseball capped drivers' digust. Had over 130mph out of it - seriously, and have done it twice!

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Other than routine, nothing has gone wrong (touch wood).

    Image

Lovely shape and looks big - not an obvious choice for anyone under 50 (my dad has one), but people look when a young person gets in or out of a car of this size.

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

Very comfortable. Rear seats are nice, much better than a new, low spec VW Passat. Has been on some long journeys and has been comfortable all the way.

  • Security and Service

    Service

    3 out of 5 3.0

Rover parts are expensive. Use Honda parts where appropriate.

  • Problems and Ownership
