Rover 800 Fastback 1991-
  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

    Cheap as chips

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not much more expensive than any other manufaturer.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Comfortable, but a bit long for the carparks.

    Performance

    5 out of 5 5.0

This car has a blsitering performance especially if you install a boost controller. Hot hatches stand no chance and only the turbo saloons stand a chance. Watch out for the corners though.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

These are reliable cars and I have never been left in the lurch.

    Image

    3 out of 5 3.0

The fastback version looks sexy, but a little dated now.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Recaro seats are a little hard, but no backaches yet.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    4 out of 5 4.0

Has a factory-fitted alarm and remote locking, seems secure enough.

    Service

    3 out of 5 3.0

Rover parts are expensive from the dealer, though there are lots around in breakers yards.

  • Problems and Ownership

Strong and reliable if you can put up with the cylinder head oil leak (they all do it).

    Other

The car leaks; sunroof and door seals need to be looked at.

Did you buy the car new?

    Used

Would you buy the same model again?

    Yes

Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?

    Yes
