Rover 800 Fastback 820 Vitesse 5d (1997/P) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Best value car I've ever bought, bargain stuff, most under rated car on the road today for sure.
Costs
Can return sub 25mpg if driven hard, but who cares. Motorway driving is a joy to endure.

On the road
Driving
Gives quite a sporty ride for a big car, a lot of weight to manoeuvre, so you need to know the car's limits. Losing traction under acceleration is easier than you think. Wheel spin is possible in 3rd at 50mph on a dry road.
Performance
If you can find me a 5dr, 200bhp, 150mph, luggage swallower like this for less than £2k and I'll eat my hat. A true Scooby-beater in the city centre Grand Prix! Mid-range 50-80 punch is unreal.

Living with it
Reliability
Agsinst all odds, never had a serious problem yet, most reliable car i've owned! Just needs usual servicing and a bit of TLC and it works lovely. 135k on the clock and still pulling happily!
Image
Poor media image, fuelled by sweeping statements by biased, uneducated reviewers don't help, but guess that it keeps the prices low for those who know this is a wolf in sheeps' clothing
Comfort
Lovely half leather Recaros seats five with ease, and the back seat is very good!
