What does this car say about you?

I'm a sad, overlly patriotic fool.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Laugh until tehy've had a go - then are without exception pleasantly surprised. (Mate borrowed it for his 120 mile round commute to Birmingham and would happily have kept it over his Saxo!

Would you buy this car again and why?

No, will run this one into the ground, by which time they will be worth nothing and owe me nothing. (or become a modern-day classic??) One can hope!

What are you likely to buy next?

    Mazda 2's are pretty funky

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £6,999

When did you buy the car?

    May 2004

Did you get a good deal and why?

Good at the time, ex demo model with all the options (including leather) for base model price. Book price at the time was over £10,000!!! Seemed less shrewd after Rover went bust.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Ex Demo model with less than 100 miles on the clock. Style (top level) trim at Solo (basic) price.

    What was the dealer like?

Ok. Had a couple of bits done under warrenty before Rover went bust. Dealer provided courtesy car etc and replaced radio aerial, improved heater (matrix needs adjusting if heat is cold) etc but never replaced dodgy rear setabelt which cost me £50 come first MOT

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Great around town. Noisey on motorway but will keep up without difficulty.

    What's it like to park?

If you can't manage to park this you probably shouldn't be driving!

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Nothing major in over 3 years but too many minor niggles; couple of bits under warrenty (see above), coolant system leaked - jubilee clip needed tightening, tracking wanders every 6,000 miles, rear wash-wipe leaked and fell apart would have been expensive but £25 direct from X-Part factory in Desford - dead easy to fit yourself) SRS warning light likes to come on - (now consider it a feature), passenger electric window slow to return, central locking range laughable

What's most practical about your car?

Nippy around town, will hold its own on the motorway, despite wind noise and hit 100mph (would do more if the fuel pump could keep up . . .) Spacious and practicalk for a 'City Sector' car. Seats fold right down making shifting stuff a doddle.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Air Con, Sony Head Unit (CD/Radio) and full electrics nice on a car of its size. 'Clicking' on air con that people complian about is the thermostat and quite normal!!!
