Rover Metro 1.1 C Cat 3d (1993/K) Owner Review

Economy
Value
I paid £320 for mine and I have to say for that price who can complain about a car thats lasted me a year, without servicing and has good quality seats?
Costs
Carb's are a little uneconomical compared to today's fuel injection motors. Still, I manage to get 95 miles to a tenner, even though it would be better if the car was given a service.

On the road
Driving
Hydragas suspension causes you to fly round corners like a jelly... unless you lower the car.
Performance
For a 1.1 engine, you can't go wrong. Yes I'm a 'boy racer' and yes I've thrashed this car but it may be an 'old biddys' car but it manages to beat Saxos, Corsas and the like on a track.

Living with it
Reliability
Either I've had a one off or something, but like i said... Thrashed, bashed and crashed, this car has managed to keep on ticking when I give it a licking.
Image
Personally I think mine looks ok, but most people, especially ones who have never driven a Metro see it as an old biddies car and pretty much point and laugh.
Comfort
Love the driving position. Nice pedal arrangement. Seats are some of the best I've sat in.

Security and Service
Security
I've been broken into twice and a lot of my friends with Metros have had this problem too. Yes, you get an alarm and immob as standard, but lack of interior sensors means windows are easy targets for thieving scum.
Service
None because it's too old to even bother!
