Rover Metro 1.1 Rio 3d (2000/V) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Low prices for cars with very low milage.
Costs
Initial costs of repairing rust on second hand car. Needed to add alarm/immobiliser and stereo.
-
On the road
Driving
As mentioned in Parkers, can catch the wind on the motorway. Suspension is too soft around corners.
Performance
1.1 models are very economic when driven properly, but also very slow.

Living with it
Reliability
Superb reliablity. Low mileage cars which have had regular servicing should run like new.
Image
A lot of elderly people seen driving them. Bright metallic paint really stands out. For an enthusiast, a few personal touches can make a real difference for little money.
Comfort
Bags of headroom. Short legs and long arms needed, though, to be comfortable when holding steering wheel.
-
Security and Service
Security
Comes without alarm and has very weak locks. Unfortunately, very easy to break in to.
Service
Avoid buying parts from Rover. They are extremely over-priced. Use a reliable garage or independant parts supplier.
