Rover Metro 1.1 Rio Grande 3d (1995/M) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Reasonable to buy second hand as a first car or run around.
Costs
Cheap to insure and service, however fuel consumption is dreadful for such a small car and engine.
-
On the road
Driving
Can feel unstable sometimes, crosswinds affect the car on motorways.
Performance
Quite quick from the start, has to be pushed hard to gain speed however, much like any engine that has such a small capacity.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Poor, engine overheats in hot weather, starter motor packed in at 50,000 miles, rear suspension arms will need replacing, oil leaks, hydrogas suspension will need attention, no power will reach engine when trying to start.
Image
Not the best car to be seen in.
Comfort
Not bad, driving position isn't great, never had much trouble on long distances with comfort.
-
Security and Service
Security
Not good at all, alarmed, but would be easy to steal. Fortunately no one has touched it yet.
Service
Never been to a main dealer.
