Rover Metro 1.4 16V GTa 3d (1992/J) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Bought Nov '01 with only 27,500 miles, owned by 80 year old since new and garaged all its life - bargain at £800!
Costs
Good on fuel unless ranted. Cheap insurance. Had to have TH2 immobiliser fitted for insurance at the cost of £130.

On the road
Driving
I prefer to drive this than the new Saxo VTR I have - it's more fun. Loads of understeer in wet which can be very intresting!
Performance
For an old 1.4, it's quick. It surprises some of the boy racers! Will cruise on motorway at 90+ quite happly, but very noisy!

Living with it
Reliability
Hasn't let me down in 8 months. Starts 1st time every time from cold.

Who cares?
Comfort
Front seats good, but back are awful. OK on long run.

Security and Service
Security
Had to get TH2 immobiliser fitted for insurance, so better than standard security (none!)
Service
Haven't needed to take it there yet. Got cam-belt and service done at local garage as a precaution.
