Rover Metro 1.4 16V GTi Cat 3d (1992/J) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Fair cheap to pick up, for 800 quid you can pick up a mint condition one, 400 and under for average condition ones
Costs
Good on fuel, plenty of parts avalible at breakers..and do go to breakers, because Rover rip you off
-
On the road
Driving
Great fun to drive, nice size to park and drive
Performance
Probably the fastest 1.4 you can buy (0-60 in 8.6), will beat any Nova/ Corsa that gets in your mirror (is faster than a 2.0 8V Astra and faster off the line initially than a renualt 19 16v, fairly good handling...don't belive me, try one your self

Living with it
Reliability
K-series engine is brilliant, not had any problems apart from hdroelastic unit going, but I've never heard of anyone elses going so its rare. Even then it was only 20 quid for breakers. Don't go to rover because it'll cost you £200!
Image
Some people might laugh at you, but it's more than likely that those people own the same cars as every other person the road, and part of the reason I bought this was too be different, why do you want to be like every other person with a Nova/ Corsa/Saxo?
Comfort
Lovely seats, not bad driving position, can rattle and hear road noise, but its easily forgetable

Security and Service
Security
Standard alarm is good, but suspect Rover keys
Service
Expenise and very slow
