Saab 9-3 Convertible 2.0i S 2d (1999/T) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Highish depreciation in first 3 years - second-hand a better buy.
Costs
Higher 'standard' costs, but less extras compared to, say, Vectra.
-
On the road
Driving
Only really bad roads cause shake - smooth ride otherwise.
Performance
Turbos offer faster acceleration, but injection is smooth and fast enough.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Only minor niggles, covered by warranty. Nothing serious.
Image
More subtle than a BMW Convertible. Looks good with darker paint and cream leather, I think!
Comfort
All mod cons and comfortable seating position. Centre console could get in the way unless you adjust legs - ok for me at 6' 3".
-
Security and Service
Security
Hood is obvious disadvantage. Deadlocks, immobiliser, ignition key goes near hand brake, so no risk of people leaning in to get it.
Service
Good overall service, but often takes a couple of visits to correct niggles.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Other
Sensor on the hood - still worked ok. Exhaust back box, but within warranty period.
