Saab 9-3 Coupe (1998 - 2002) 2.0t S (154bhp) 3d (1999/T) Owner Review

Summary
What does this car say about you?
I think Saab's image is quite unique, less brash than BMW and Mercs and I like that
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They like it a lot, especially from a safety point of view.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, without a shadow of a doubt
What are you likely to buy next?
I am likely to replace this with a 2.2TiD version. The performance of the 2.0t is very good but for the mileage I do the lowish mpg is getting a little painful!

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£2,500
When did you buy the car?
July 2005
Did you get a good deal and why?
I did get an extremely good deal, but tht is probably as my brother runs the franchise!
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Relative runs a Saab franchise so bought it as a trade-in
What was the dealer like?
Fine

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
I moved to this car from an MGF VVC, which handles like a go-cart, and so I found the handling with the standard 15" wheels rather ponderous. I upgraded it to 17" wheels from a 9-5 aero and it is vastly improved.
What's it like to park?
Fine, tkes a bit of getting used to but visibility is perfectly adequate
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
No, over the last 18 months and 30,000 miles it has not missed a beat
What's most practical about your car?
Boot space is huge. A bit more rear legromm wouldn't go amiss though, although this may well be better in the 5dr version.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Night panel, which darkens all the non-essential instruments at night. Very good feature ad used in most commercial airlines.
