Economy
Value
Bought it in Sep 03 for £7000 incl. 3 year Honda warranty. 34k and full SAAB service history. Went to buy a Accord, fell for the 9-3 sitting at back of the lot.
Costs
Insurance reasonable at Group 14, fuel economy 30 mpg on commuting/ shopping week, 36 mpg on longer runs

On the road
Driving
Sure-footed and steady, wheel spins easily due to no traction control and 150 bhp.
Performance
Pulls away well, nice mid range acceleration for overtaking. Can leave the most 'Germans' behind from 40 to 70.

Living with it
Reliability
Two burnt out coil packs in six months. Covered by warranty. Honda dealer said SAAB put it down to a faulty batch.
Image
Not as iconic as the old 900s, but intend to keep it until it dies, so maybe in ten years?
Comfort
The most comfortable car I have ever owned. Seats are superb. Cosseting feel behind the wheel, great quality trim. Brilliant for commuting in slow traffic.

Security and Service
Security
Ever hear about one stolen? Gearbox has to be locked in reverse to remove ignition. Full alam and immobiliser.
Service
Bought it from a Honda dealer and managed to get a three year warranty thrown in for 'free'. Honda servicing is very good, but expensive. Have since gone to independent SAAB specialist for MOTs etc.
