Saab 9-5 Estate 2.0t SE 5d (2001/Y) Owner Review

Economy
Value
A lot of car for the money - Dual climate control, leather heated seats, CD/tape and 6 CD changer and sat nav. Bought second hand and got an unbeatable deal from the dealer.
Costs
So far all that has happened is that a wheel bearing has had to be replaced (Under Warranty). Very thirsty car with London driving giving 20mpg at best and I believe that the parts are expensive.

On the road
Driving
Soft suspension stops you from driving it fast on the twisty stuff. Best cruising silently on the motorway, which is utterly relaxing. Gearbox is very notchy, which makes me regret not getting the Auto.
Performance
Considering the power (150bhp) for the size of car, it is very rapid, unless fully loaded. Thing is you don't tend to drive the car like that, but has very good torque which makes it a safe overtaker.

Living with it
Reliability
So far perfect, fires up without fuss and drives beautifully.
Image
The intelligent choice, but seen as less brash as its German counterparts. Understated and elegant and better for it.
Comfort
Totally relaxing - like driving your living room. Seats are very comfortable and found my perfect driving position. Loads of space in the back and a large boot. Soft suspension does get aggrovating when you brake as the nose dips and rocks.

Security and Service
Security
Alarm, immobiliser, deadlocks, Euro NCAP 5 star rating - 'nuff said.
Service
So far, only a repair of the wheel baring which was done under warranty. Cleaned the car and were very professional.
