Economy
Value
Bought second-hand. Fantastic value. Depreciation from new is brutal.
Costs
Find an example with fsh, preferably one that's just had the 66k service done - the most expensive one. Can be pricey if you are not used to owning cars at this end of the market - I'm not! Worth it though. Fuel OK. Motorway: 36.5 mpg, town 23 to 24 mpg

On the road
Driving
Smooth, relaxing, stress free. Estate handles better than the saloon.
Performance
Get the Aero variant if you want performance, but this one still goes like stink for an estate.

Living with it
Reliability
Find one that's only been fed fully synthetic oil. If not, then you can get sludge in the sump blocking the oil pick-up strainer, engine and turbo starved of oil = major expense. Turbo is a weak point on non-Aeros. Lasted 'til 81k.
Image
Tasteful but not ostentatious. It's not German - that helps!
Comfort
Supreme. No other seats come close.

Security and Service
Security
I don't feel I need to worry.
Service
I use an independant Saab enthusiast. Great.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Acquired at 80k. Turbo seals leaking at 81k. Didn't go entirely, but dealer replaced turbo free of charge anyway - £500!
