Saab 900 Hatchback 2.0 XS 5d (1997/R) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Good value second hand. Retains price very well.
Costs
Very thirsty on fuel - even with mine having an LPG conversion. Servicing is a joke too, considering the number of Vauxhall parts in these cars.

Driving
Is OK. Good feedback through steering, but heavy to steer. Bouncy ride at times.
Performance
Not a slouch, but not a BMW either!

Living with it
Reliability
Engine and bodywork pretty much bullet proof. This is were Saab really come into their own.
Image
Distinctive shape - like all Saabs. Not beautiful to behold, but still regarded as in the same class as Audi or BMW.
Comfort
Is relatively OK - difficult to get good driving position.

Security and Service
Security
Deadlocks and gear lock make this a thieves nightmare - I know from experience after locking my keys in the boot once - it took two hours to get into the car (and even then you couldn't drive it away without the key!).
Service
Servicing very pricey for a car in this bracket.
