Saab 9000 Hatchback 1985-
  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Much better value than BMW eqivalents.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Tyres expensive, servicing reasonable since I use an ex-franchise dealer with loads of experience. He charges much less than the plate-glass suited guys that Saabs are sold by these days.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

More than adequate handler. Brakes a little wooden in feel. ABS not wonderful. Blind spots from wide rear pillars.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Quick, fun car. Can embarrass some small sporty hatches.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    3 out of 5 3.0

Mine's over 135k miles now, nothing major busted yet!

    Image

    5 out of 5 5.0

Frequently complemented on car's handsome looks.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

Ventilation could be better, otherwise a real mile-eater. Delivers you relatively wrinkle-free after even hours at the wheel.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

No immobiliser on mine, no attempts to steal so far so can hardly comment...

    Service

    3 out of 5 3.0

One recall for corrosion of a circuit board that operates the airbag.
