Saab 9000 Hatchback 2.3 Turbo 16 CS 5d (91) (1992/J) Owner Review

Economy
Value
A lot of well-built car for the price.
Costs
Pricey bits and a little thirsty.
-
On the road
Driving
A great drive, comfy, safe, fast and large load capacity.
Performance
One of the few cars I could afford that accelerates nearly as quickly as a motorbike. Could do with more grip at the front or a more modern traction control system.

Living with it
Reliability
Fine now, thank God! Mine dropped the camchain at speed... ouch, then £2700 worth of bits later, once mended then she let go of her clutch, then gearbox snapped! Exhaust, driveshafts, brakes and ABS sensors.
Image
Total cool, chunky, sensible, ballistic missile, intelligent, power crazy, control freak... urm! Calm down man, it's only a car. I don't give a damn what others think - I like the thing.
Comfort
'Nuff legroom and great leather seats - just wish I had chosen one with air con.

Security and Service
Security
I like the chunky keys that don't snap like Jaguars do.
Service
Beechdale Saab of Nottingham are excellent. The cat's pyjamas - thanx guys for all your help. A quality of customer service that Mercedes should be jealous of.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
Camchain, clutch, throttle gizmo and clutch slave cylinder failure covers carpet in fluid, drat it!
Other
Lazy leccy windows. Faint creaky dashbard a bit annoying. Stupid headlamp bulb retaining wire clip.
