Saab 9000 Hatchback 1985-
  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

It's a minter and has lost minimal value in 24 months.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

The "DI" cassette failed at 96K miles. £232.00 - ouch!

    Driving

Straight line acceleration great. Cornering not so great.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

7.5 secs for 0 - 60 mph is ok by me. Many ECU upgrades available. Maptun are the best.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

I would have scored 5, except for the DI Cassette problem. Otherwise excellent.

Built like a tank. Surely Saab's best car ever. Quirky. A good "Alternative" car for someone who doesn't want to go down the German route.

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

Saab leather seats really are gorgeous. Full climate control too.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    5 out of 5 5.0

Saab immobiliser is a nightmare prospect for thieves.

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

Use a Saab specialist. They use all the same parts. The dealers make the prices up as they go along.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

Solid as a rock. Capable of 250K.

    Other

My only problem is what to replace it with - I don't like the 9-3's or 9-5's since they both seem to be Vauxhall derivatives. I'll probably get a 9000 Aero.
