SEAT Arona SUV 1.0 TSI 110 XPERIENCE Lux 5dr DSG Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Writing review for my mother, she is very pleased with the Arona, best car she's ever owned, it suits her 110% as being disabled as well, as it maybe 3/4 inches taller than the Ibiza but it makes all the difference especially being between 5ft mum/ and 5ft 9 like I am.
She is getting used to all the controls although she isn't tech minded the ease of use of the infotainment system is great.
The only thing it's a bit of a faff to sign her as a user to the car for the SEAT CONNECT APP, you need both keys if you are to fo this and a lit of screens before you get to the end.
The car is suitable for family of 3 max if you go on holiday, the boot is smaller than the T-Cross, but it was easy if you pack your things right inside as the boot floor can drop 3/4 inches, again it makes all the difference.
We both have back problems and like with mum she has a raised sofa by 3 inches...again it's the difference between being able to get up and not and probably falling over after.
The 1.0 110 TSi DSG is a absolute gem, there is a lot of pull from 30 to 60mph compared to my 1.5 TSi, it's very nippy and does on average between 52/54mpg.
Only thing with the Xperience Lux is that you don't get driver profiles (Eco/normal/ sport/individual), as if you have the 1.0 TSi in the FR Sport trim you get it.
With this you get it in it's standard set up profile , which it coasts wether you want it to or not, only way to stop this is by putting it in Sport, which in fairness you don't want to do.
It does not bother mum and has really got her back into driving again and the car is her lifeline like mine is, she is in awe of how cleaver it is, the parking assistant works wonders and is spot on with it being 3 inches from the kerb every time.
Although it's early days with the car and if anything would of gone wrong it eould of in this first 2/3000 miles.
How SEAT are not selling this yet the Ateca in other countries beats me as this would sell well to young families from taking kids to school to it bring a disabled person's car.
Although it isn't a hybrid, the stop/start works well.
It's got a bit of road noise at 60mph but so does every car of this type, it's not as bad as some people say.
It has passenger height adjustment which is something like for instance a Honda Civic/Jazz don't have, and as a passenger you don't want to be sitting low in the seat if you are a 5ft person.
SEAT have really done well with the development of the Arona being based on the Ibiza, but also loosely based on the T-Cross/Skoka Kamiq or the premium Q2.
The Arona has a VW/Audi engine and running gear which engineshave been refined and proven reliable, it has various switches inside which you would find on a VW car, the digital LCD instrument cluster has 3 different screens to choose from for your dials, even has a large map inside it if you prefer, the android auto works very well and is easy to use and we prefer google maps to the SEAT navigation, not that there is anything wrong with it, because there isnt, just a preference.
We would certainly recommend this car, but go for either FR or Xperience model so you get the extra goodies, it's well worth its weight in gold, it's not at all much more than the SE Entry level model and the 2 I've recommend the FR and the Xperience you can have it in like the FR/FR Sport or Xperience or Xperience Lux.
In terms of ride quality between the FR Sport and the Xperience Lux there's hardly anything in it, both ride over speed humps we'll and the comfort seats in both these models are very supportive but don't have lumber support, but in all honesty mum has next to no discs like me in the lumber of our backs and we have not found any issues on short or long distance journeys.
It's worth taking a look and considering as it does look a bit more funky than the Skoda Kamiq.
