In their own words

This is my first petrol car after over 20 years of driving diesils. I was looking for a replacement for my RAV4 that offered similar space and comfort. I picked the 1.4 Xcellence for it's included extras and it's pracicallity.
Although nice to drive, I did miss the low rev torque of a diesil engine. You do need to use the gears and a few more revs if you want to use it's acceleration or drive on hillier roads. That said, it is quite sprightly and relaxing to drive, although the suspension can be a bit firm at times on the 18 inch wheels.
I have had some issues, the first being the automatic braking system, (Front Assist/City Emergency braking function). It activated several times whilst driving along narrow country lanes with high verges. It's quite disconcerting the first time it happens and you don't know what is happening! I believe it can be switched off though. My second issue is with the keyless entry. The battery in my remote died without any indication and I found myself locked out of my car. Fortunately I wasn't too far from a shop where I was able to buy a replacement. I now always carry a spare battery with my remote. The only actual fault I've experienced is with my instrument cluster lights. Over the last few months they seem to operate intermittently unless I've actually turned my lights on. One other observation is that the tyre wear is much heavier than it was on my RAV, even though I'm driving much more gently these days. It would be nice to see comparison tyre wear tests between different cars.
Most of my driving these days is short local runs, where I'm getting just over 40 mpg. On a motorway run it is similar if I stick close to the limit. It does drop if I go much faster. On a cross country run it can get nearer to 50 mpg.
