SEAT Ibiza 2.0 8V Cupra Sport 3d (Plus Pack) (1998/R) Owner Review

Economy
Value
VW/Audi in a Spanish wrapper - reliability with better looks, at a better price. Bit thirsty round town.
Costs
Car was good value, although service cost somewhat high so far.
-
On the road
Driving
Handles superbly round the twisty stuff - never fails to raise a smile on my face.
Performance
Plenty of fun mid-range grunt. Fast, but could be quicker for a 2.0. Good motorway cruising.

Living with it
Reliability
Nothing major, but some minor niggles: electric window motor failed, fuel gauge sender failed, sunroof rattles and glass mists up heavily.
Image
Looks great, gets a good few turned heads and I'm still happy to be seen in it!
Comfort
Firm seats give good comfort and road feel. Steering could do with reach adjustment for tall drivers.

Security and Service
Security
Aftermarket Thatcham Cat 1 alarm needed to satisfy insurance people. Suspect a break-in under previous owner.
Service
Not impressed with Seat Service. Service bit pricey, dealer work sometimes shoddy - things not put back or tightened properly (glad I'm car savvy and could spot it myself).
